IPL 2023 Auction Update: Players Registration Deadline, Remaining Purse

BCCI has set December 15 as the last day for players to register. Cricketers have been asked to register for the auction by December 15, 5 PM (IST).

IPL 2023 Auction Deadline: The stage is all set for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction. Earlier there were talks that the auction for IPL 15 might be held in Istanbul or Bengaluru, however, it has been confirmed now that the auction will take place in Kochi on 23rd December, 2022. The reason why it is a mini-auction is as every franchise has a stable squad which they built during the IPL 2022 mega auction, earlier this year and also because they are facing budget constraints. The mini-auction on December 23 will be the final chance for all teams to rebuild their squads.

As per reports in InsideSport.IN, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set December 15 as the last day for players to register. Cricketers have been asked to register for the auction by December 15, 5 PM (IST). In-form star T20 players like Ben Stokes, Cameron Green and Sam Curran will likely attract high bidding in the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

The report also suggests that franchises have requested BCCI to change the auction date as 23rd December is close to Christmas. All teams are fearing that foreign staff might not be available in the Christian holiday season. A final decision by the apex board is expected soon.

“December 15 is player registration deadline. We expect some top players to enrol. As for the auction date, December 23 is the set date for now. We are discussing some franchises’ requests to advance the date. But there are other factors involved. Only after deliberation with all stakeholders, we will come to a decision,” a BCCI official told InsideSport.
