Ind vs WI, 1st ODI: 'Clinical' India Crush Windies To Win In Their 1000th ODI, Go 1-0 Up In The Series
For the Windies, Jason Holder fought a lone battle, scoring 57 but Prasidh Krishna getting him caught out behind wickets meant the visitors did not play their 50 overs.
New Delhi: A clinical all-round performance for team India powered them to a 6-wicket win over West Indies in their historic 1000th One-Day-International game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With this win, India have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Following remarkable spells from spinners Chahal and Sundar, Rohit Sharma (60 runs off 51 balls) scored a breezy fifty to help India win the series opener.
Chasing a paltry 176 run target for a win, India faced a bit of a wobble as the hosts lost quick four wickets for just 10 runs, even after getting a good start from openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. However, debutant Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav hanged around to wrap things up nicely.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first on a spin-friendly track. Indian cricket team's star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (4/49) finally found his mojo back as he bowled amazingly in 1st ODI.
He was supported well by Washington Sundar (3/30) as the all-rounder got some crucial breakthroughs. Thanks to remarkable spells from Chahal and Sundar, Windies got all out for 176.
