ICC Test Rankings: Rohit Sharma Attains Career-Best Rank; Axar, Ashwin Make Solid Gains

Rohit Sharma top-scored with 66 runs in the first innings of Ind vs Eng Pink-ball Test in Motera and later played an unbeaten 25-run knock in the second innings. His rating points aggregate is 742, 20 more than his best of 722 in October 2019 was ranked among the top-10 Test batsmen in ICC rankings. 

Indian cricket team's star opener Rohit Sharma has finally been rewarded for his brilliant batting in the Test series against England. The fiery opener has reached career-best number eight position in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings with a six-place jump.  

In the ongoing four-Test series against England, Rohit Sharma (296 runs in three Tests) is second in the list of batsmen who have scored the most runs. This includes a century and a half-century. England captain Joe Root has scored the most 333 runs. Rohit's 161-run innings in Chennai helped India win the Ind vs Eng Chennai Test.

Rohit Sharma top-scored with 66 runs in the first innings of Ind vs Eng Pink-ball Test in Motera and later played an unbeaten 25-run knock in the second innings. At the same time, veteran spinner Ravichandan Ashwin has lifted himself four places up to third position in the Test rankings of bowlers with 823 rating points.

Ashwin made this solid gain after an impressive performance in the Ind vs Eng test series. The off-spinner took seven wickets in the day-night Test against England at the newly built Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Indian captain Virat Kohli is at number five spot and Cheteshwar Pujara at number 10.  New Zealand captain Kane Williamson holds the top-spot in ICC Test batsmen rankings. His rating points aggregate is 919.

Left-arm spinner Akshar Patel, who was adjudged as the man of the match at Motera, also made some solid gains after taking 11 wickets in the Pink-ball Test to reach 38th position. Akshar has so far bagged 18 wickets in 2 Tests in the four-match series so far.  

England spinner Jack Leach has moved up three places to 28th position and entered top 30 for the first time.
