On Day 2 of Ind vs Aus Brisbane Test, Rohit Sharma skied the ball off Nathan Lyon's delivery and Starc completed an easy catch to get rid of the Indian opener. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar was agitated seeing Rohit Sharma getting dismissed after playing a loose shot and strongly criticized the senior right-handed batsman.
"Why? Why? Why? That's an unbelievable shot. That's an irresponsible shot. There is a fielder there at long too, there is a fielder there at deep square leg," Sunil Gavaskar told Channel 7 on Saturday.
"You have just hit a boundary a couple of deliveries earlier and why would you play that shot? You're a senior player, there is no excuse, absolutely no excuse for that shot. An unnecessary wicket, an unnecessary wicket gifted away. Totally unnecessary," Gavaskar added.
Rohit Sharma made a brilliant debut on the bouncy track of Gabba. He scored 44 runs with the help of 6 fours, but on the fifth ball of the 20th over, Rohit tried to play a big shot off Nathan Lyon's delivery.
