India's 2024 Davis Cup World Group 1 playoff against Pakistan is set to unfold this week on the grass court of Islamabad. The Indian Tennis team will face a challenge as they will be without the services of Rohan Bopanna, the Australian Open 2024 men's doubles champion who recently made history as the oldest tennis player to secure a number one ATP Ranking in doubles. Despite the absence of Bopanna, history favours India in this matchup, as they are the reigning champions from the 2019 encounter against Pakistan at a neutral venue.

Following approvals from the respective authorities, the Indian Tennis team has arrived in Pakistan for the Davis Cup 2024 World Group I play-off tie. This significant event marks the end of a 60-year wait for Pakistan to host the Indian Tennis team in a major tournament. Notably, the last time the two sides faced each other on neutral ground was in 2019, with India emerging victorious.

As Team India aim for their first-ever victory in the Tennis World Cup, also known as the Davis Cup, it's worth noting that their best performance was in 1987 when they were the runners-up. India have been the runners-up three times in the past: in 1966, 1974, and 1987.
