IND vs ENG: What Will Happen If India Vs England Semifinal Gets Washed Out Due To Rain?
ICC has kept a reserve day for all the knock out matches i.e. for final and semi-final games, if rain causes hindrance. The match will begin from the same position on the reserve day.
India vs England semifinal: ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 has reached its business end. Final four teams set to play the semi-finals of the tournament have been decided. India, Pakistan, England and New Zealand are the four teams who will compete for the prestigious T20 title. Rain spoiled a few matches earlier in the tournament, resulting in no results, after which both teams shared a point each. Now the big question arises what will happen if rain hinders the T20 World Cup semi-final and final, and how the winner will be decided.
As per ICC rules, top-placed team from one group is supposed to take on second-placed team of the other group. India (table-toppers in Group-2) finished ahead of Pakistan (2nd-placed in Group-2). New Zealand (table-toppers in Group-1) finished ahead of England (2nd-placed in Group-1).
The first semi-final will be played between New Zealand and Pakistan in Sydney on November 9. If India defeats England in 2nd semi-final, they will face the winner of 1st semi-final (NZ vs PAK) at Melbourne on 13th November.
What will happen if India vs England semifinal gets washed out due to rain?
ICC has kept a reserve day for all the knock out matches i.e. for final and semi-final games, if rain causes hindrance. The match will begin from the same position on the reserve day.
Even if the reserve day gets washed out, the team in first place in points table will be declared the winner and qualify for the final.
If T20 World Cup final gets washed out, then ICC has kept a reserve day. If the reserve day too gets washed out, both teams in the final will be declared joint-winners.
