New Delhi: Troubles and roadblocks don't seem to end for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022. After many players tested Covid-19 positive ahead of the start of the T20 League, a fire broke out at the Karachi National Stadium, just a day before the PSL 2022 opening ceremony. Local media reports suggest that a short circuit during a welding operation caused the fire.

A temporary commentary box built inside the ground was damaged. Apart from this, SDM cables installed on the boundary line have also been damaged. No loss of life or injury to workers, ground staff has been reported. The Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and managed to control the fire but failed to save the temporary commentary box.

The opening ceremony of six-team Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 cricket tournament is scheduled to be held on 27th January. Despite the unfortunate fire incident, no change has been made in the original schedule.
