Eng vs WI, 1st Test, Day 2: Windies Trail England By 147 Runs As Bad Light Forces Play To End Early

Just when the English bowlers looked to get another wicket to shift the pressure to Windies, bad light stopped the play again and finally, the day's play had to be called off.

England cricket team' star paceman James Anderson managed to pick one wicket in the final session before bad light forced the umpires to call for stumps. However, the weather looks promising for the remaining three days of the first Test. With this, a typical day of Test cricket came to an end with Windies at 57/1 after 19.3 overs on Day 2 of the first Test at Southampton. For England, veteran speedster Anderson started the bowling attack as Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell came down as openers to the crease for Windies. In the initial overs of their innings, both the openers batted well and showed great resistance with the bat. After the first seven overs, bad light momentarily stopped the final session's play for a short while. However, It was only a very short break. Anderson finally got the big breakthrough by getting John Campbell LBW out (28 off 36 balls) in the 13th over. The speedster broke the opening 43-run partnership at a time when England desperately needed a wicket. Jason’s six-wickets haul is now also the best figures by a West Indian captain against England. Windies On Top As England Lose 4/71 To Reach Lunch On 106/5 (Lunch) The fierce pace bowling attack of the West Indies cricket team, lead by Shanon Gabriel and captain Jason Holder started the second day of the first Test on a high as they managed to send back half of the English team to pavilion for 106/5 after 43 overs at Lunch in Southampton. The opening day of the Test was marred by rain and saw only 17.4 overs to be bowled. At stumps, Rory Burns (20*) and Joe Denly (14*) remained not-out with the scoreboard reading 35/1. For Windies, Shannon Gabriel was the only bowler who managed to take wicket by dismissing Dominic Sibley for a duck.
