While there was an unexpected power failure in Hyderabad during New Zealand cricketer Glenn Phillips press conference ahead of their ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 fixture against the Netherlands, that did not deter him from answering the questions of the journalists. A member from the New Zealand contingent held the light near Phillips face as the player continued with his press conference. The pictures from the press conference went viral on social media.

"We didn't mean to turn the lights out, but maybe we'll do it more often 🔦 🔥," ICC wrote while sharing the pictures on their official handle.

Talking about New Zealand's World Cup campaign, the Blackcaps got off to a terrific start with a dominating victory over defending champions England in their World Cup opener at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While the Three Lions had scored 282/9, New Zealand chased it down in just 36.2 overs to bring up a 9-wicket win in what is being looked at as a tremendous statement of intent. They are locking horns against Netherlands in Hyderabad in their second match on Monday (October 9).

The Dutch, by contrast, did have their moments in their opening game of the World Cup against Pakistan but eventually ended up losing the match by 81 runs. The Netherlands-Pakistan fixture had also taken place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad which was given hosting rights of three matches with the Pakistan-Sri Lanka game on October 10 being the final one of the lot.
