World Cup 2019, Ind vs Aus: 5 Australian players who can be game changers

The Australians do boast of great record against the Indians at the World Cup but with India rising as force in white ball cricket in the last decade or so, the two giants of international cricket have shared the honours in recent ODI clashes between them.

Australia shall be taking on India at the in match of the ICC World Cup. The Aussies who have got their World Cup campaign off to brilliant start after registering back to back wins against Afghanistan and West Indies would look to make it three in a row against Kohli and Co.

However, Smith and his 'Yellow Shirts' won’t allow any complacency to get into their game as they face a stiff opponent in the Virat Kohli-led 'Men in Blue' who come into the game on the back of trouncing South African by six wickets.

The Australians do boast of great record against the Indians at the World Cup but with India rising as force in white ball cricket in the last decade or so, the two giants of international cricket have shared the honours in recent ODI clashes between them.

So let us look at five players who can be game changers for Australia in their World Cup encounter against India

David Warner – David Warner shall be key to Australia’s batting fortunes at the top of their order. The diminutive Australian opener has staged a good comeback into international cricket by getting runs under his belt against Afghanistan in Australia’s World Cup opener. Warner top scored with 89 in Australia’s thumping win over Afghanistan.

Warner tremendously benefited from his stint in the IPL, where he amassed over 600 runs to end as the tournaments leading run scorer. Warner has been a heavy run scorer for the Aussies against the Indians in the past and shall once again look to provide the opening salvo up the order with his partner Aaron Finch.

Steve Smith: Steve Smith is undoubtedly the backbone of the Australian batting’s middle order. The workhorse is back to his business of being the sheet anchor in the middle overs. Smith has made valuable contributions with the willow for Australia.

His half century (73) against West Indies helped Aussies stage a late recovery after they were in dire straits with Windies seamer wrecking through their top order. Australia will hope that Smith’s good form continues against India

Glen Maxwell: The dynamic power hitter who has been relatively quiet in the World Cup so far would be raring to show his clinical striking exploits with the bat against the Indians.

The Indians are wary of how brutal Maxwell’s stroke play can be towards the end of an innings. Besides his belligerent batting, Maxwell will also be a handy customer with the ball for Australia lending depth to their spin attack with Adam Zampa.

Mitchell Starc: Aussie pace spearhead Mitchell Starc has raised the alarm bells among the oppositions after his heroics with the ball against the West Indies. Starc produced a game changing spell in the closing stages of the match against Windies to turn it around in Australia’s favour.

Starc 5-wickets against Windies are a testimony of his ability to gun down oppositions with his express pace and late swing. The left armer shall once again lead the Australian pace battery against a batting heavy Indian side.

Pat Cummins: Pat Cummins has been among the wickets for Australia in the ongoing World Cup being played in the United Kingdom. The right arm tearway seamer has gone past the defences of batsmen with his pace in the tourney so far.

Cummins played an instrumental role in Australia’s World Cup wins against Windies and Afghanistan picking up a heap of wickets. He was Australia’s most successful bowler against Afghanistan picking up 3 for 40 in his ten overs.  He followed it up with two wickets against the Windies
