Who Is Himanshu Singh? Ravichandran Ashwin-Like Spinner Called Up By Team India For IND vs BAN Tests

Off-spinner Himanshu Singh will bowl to Indian players, including stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, as part of their preparation for IND vs BAN Test series.

The IND vs BAN Test series 2024 will commence with the opening match at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 19. To gear up for the challenge against Bangladesh, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled a training camp in Chennai from September 13 to 18.

India's 16-member squad for IND vs BAN Chennai Test against Bangladesh will attend a practice camp from September 13 to 18.

21-year-old Himanshu Singh, an off-spinner with a bowling action similar to Ravichandran Ashwin, recently garnered attention by taking 7 wickets in a domestic cricket match. This Mumbai-based bowler is making waves with his standout performances.

Himanshu plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and has been part of BCCI's 'Emerging Players' camp. He impressed Team India's Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar with his off-spin.

At 6 feet 4 inches tall, his height and bowling action are reminiscent of Ravichandran Ashwin, and he exhibits excellent control over his deliveries. Recently, Himanshu took 7 wickets for 74 runs against Andhra Pradesh in the KT Memorial Tournament. In the 2023-24 Under-23 CK Nayudu Trophy, he claimed 38 wickets in 8 matches, including four five-wicket hauls in innings.

The first Test of the 2-match series between India and Bangladesh will take place in Chennai, starting September 19, followed by the second Test in Kanpur. The Indian squad for the opening match has been announced, with Rohit Sharma appointed as the team captain.
