WATCH: Umesh Yadav equals 19-year-old feat to bowl out West Indies

Umesh Yadav became the first pace bowler in the 21st century to claim six or more wickets in a Test innings at home

Indian pacer Umesh Yadav on Saturday wrote a new chapter in the history book of cricket, registering his best bowling figures in the longest format of the game. During the second day of the Hyderabad Test, the 30-year-old bowler from Vidarbha scalped all the remaining 3 West Indies wickets to bowl them out for 311.

He ended up taking a total of 6 wickets after conceding 88 runs in 26.4 overs. With this feat, Umesh became the third Indian bowler to claim a 5-for at home in last 5 years. Mohammed Shami claimed in 2013 against West Indies followed by Bhuvneshwar who scalped five against New Zealand in 2016.

Umesh’s fifth wicket turned out to be the special than the others as he rattled the stumps to get rid of centurion Roston chase in the 102nd over.

Here’s the video:

The Indian speedster wrapped up the Windies business in the very next ball by dismissing Shanon Gabriel for a duck.

At the same time, Umesh Yadav’s became the 14th Indian bowler to claim 6 or more wickets in a Test innings at home. He became the first bowler in last 19 years to achieve this milestone after Javagal Srinath’s 6-wicket haul against New Zealand in Mohali in 1999.
