Watch: Root comes up with new tactic for DRS; Ashwin decides not to bowl

New Delhi: The debut of Decision Review System (DRS) in India has been more in favour of the home side so far as England have been struggling to get their calls right. As a result, England star batsman Joe Root came up with his own solution to stand right beside the umpire at the non striker’s end get an ‘umpire’s view’ of the action. But that did not go down well with Ashwin.

In the 14th over of the England second innings Ravichandran Ashwin stopped in his run-up twice as Root was standing very close to the umpire. The Indian off-spinner even expressed his disapproval of the incident to umpire Chris Gaffney.

Notably, England captain Alastair Cook was out leg before in the second innings as DRS ruled in favour of India at Vishakapatnam and Root was at the non striker’s end.

India on the other hand, have established a firm grip on the Mohali Test by reducing England to 78/4 on Day 3 with the visitors still trailing by 56 runs.
