Virat Kohli vs Sachin Tendulkar in Ranji Trophy - Statical Faceoff

Virat Kohli is often compared to cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, particularly when it comes to their performances in the Ranji Trophy.

'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar played 38 matches in the competition, scoring 4281 runs at an average of 87.36. He scored 18 centuries and 19 half-centuries, with his highest score being an unbeaten 233 runs against Tamil Nadu in 2000.

In comparison, Virat Kohli has featured in 23 Ranji matches, scoring 1574 runs at an average of 50.77. He has five centuries to his name, with his last appearance in the tournament dating back to 2012. Now, after a long break, the former India skipper is ready to make his return to domestic cricket.

In his debut match in Ranji Trophy, Virat featured against Tamil Nadu in the 2006-07 season. His debut wasn't a memorable one as he got out after scoring mere 10 runs.

Kohli's last Ranji appearance was in 2012 against Uttar Pradesh, where he scored 14 and 42 runs. On both occasions, he was dismissed by 'King of Swing' Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The star batter has returned to the domestic circuit to find his form once again.

The last Ranji Trophy match Virat played in Delhi was at the old Kotla Stadium. However, in 2019, the stadium was renamed to Arun Jaitley Stadium, in tribute to the late former home minister of India.
