The former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain gave a sneak peek into his fitness journey in an interview with Star Sports back in 2023.

Virat Kohli's Stringent Obsession With Balanced Diet

Kohli laid emphasis on how he felt striking the right balance in his nutrition and fitness journey to be challenging.

“When you are figuring out your fitness journey, you are trying to figure out all sorts of things, vitamins, extra hydration, protein, this, that, to a point where you figure out okay this is what works for me. This is the right balance. The basic challenge that I felt in terms of fitness is food. You can go to the gym and work hard...but with food, it is very different. You have taste buds, and it's linked to your own mind wanting something and not wanting something," Kohli said in a conversation with Star Sports.

Kohli expressed his willingness to stick to a strict diet, stating he could eat the same meals three times a day for the next six months without any problem.

Kohli said that 90% of his food is steamed, boiled and contains no spices. He sometimes sprays some salt, pepper and lime but he is not too picky about the taste of the food he consumes. He also adds that masala curries, something which is so prevalent in the Indian households, is not even an option for the one of the world’s best cricketers.

“90 per cent of my food is all steamed, boiled. No masala. Only salt, pepper, and lime, that’s how I eat. I am not a big fanatic about the taste of food, I don’t care about the taste. Salads, I enjoy with a bit of dressing. Pan-grilled is good with a bit of olive oil or whatever. No curries, I only eat dal (lentils), but no masala curries. I do, however, eat rajma and lobhiya; as a Punjabi can’t skip them.”

So, that brings us to the question — what does Virat Kohli eat in a day?

What Does Virat Kohli's Diet Include?

Back in 2018, Kohle revealed that he faced health issues including acidity, high uric acid levels, and calcium depletion. To address these problems, he decided to become a vegetarian, eliminating meat from his diet.

According to various media reports, Kohli enjoys nut butter on gluten-free bread and prefers 3-4 cups of green tea with lemon daily when it comes to his breakfast. His lunch usually consists of vegetable soup, broth, grilled vegetables, beetroot and spinach.

And similar to his lunch, Kohli's dinner also features a generous serving of grilled vegetables and includes a portion of soup.
