Tim Paine's Wife Feels 'Sympathy' For Ex-Australia Captain In 'Sexting Scandal', Says 'Got To Give Second Chance'

Tim Paine Sexting Scandal: Wife Bon Paine says she had "sympathy" for the former Australia Test captain and calls it "injustice for it being dragged out again".

Bon Paine, the wife of Australian captain Tim Paine has spoken out for the first time after Tim Paine stepped down as Australian captain after being involved in a 'Sexting Scandal'. Tim Paine stepped down as Australia's Test captain on Friday for sending 'inappropriate messages' to a female co-worker in 2017.

She said she had "sympathy" for the former Australia Test captain and calls it "injustice for it being dragged out again".

“I have a bit of sympathy for Tim at the moment. A lot actually. He and I went through all of this privately in 2018. It was horrific then,” she said in an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, and Sunday Herald Sun.

'A Lot Of Injustice'

“I feel a bit frustrated that it’s all been brought up and aired in the public when we’d put it to bed years ago. I have moved forward since then. I feel like there is a lot of injustice for it being dragged out again,” Ms. Paine told the paper.

'Got To Give Second Chances'

“Weirdly, this mess has actually helped our relationship. I can’t believe I am saying that,” Bon Paine added.

“No one is perfect. You’ve got to give people second chances. Like I said before, Tim came and told me to my face, he told me the ins and outs, and he didn’t have to do that. I have a huge amount of respect for him for doing that," she said.

Paine announced this in a press conference from Hobart. The governing body accepted his resignation and the text messages with the female co-worker were made public. A report in the Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper said that Paine's text messages which were sent in 2017 also had a 'lewd photo'.

“Nearly four years ago, I was involved in a text exchange with a then-colleague. At the time, the exchange was the subject of a thorough CA Integrity Unit investigation, throughout which I fully participated in and openly participated in,” he said.
