T20 World Cup: VVS Laxman, Karthik Feel Shardul Thakur Must Make A Comeback Against New Zealand

T20 World Cup: VVS Laxman and Dinesh Karthik, two of India's reliable cricketers have suggested that Shardul Thakur should make a comeback in the team citing 'balance in the side'

T20 World Cup: India will face New Zealand on a Super Sunday in the cricket WC. It's a match that holds a lot of value in the context of this tournament. Whoever wins has a simpler route to the semi-finals. India is back from a humiliating 10 wicket defeat by Pakistan.

New Zealand has also lost their first Group stage match against Pakistan, thus both teams would be itching to go out there and perform at their best.

There were questions raised after the first match on team India's selection after Shardul Thakur was dropped from the side to make way for Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. VVS Laxman and Dinesh Karthik, two of India's reliable cricketers have suggested that Shardul Thakur should make a comeback in the team citing 'balance in the side'

“I would go for Shardul Thakur because Shardul can give runs with the bat, and he’s a wicket-taking option. It also increases the depth in the batting lineup. So, I would definitely go with Shardul ahead of Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar)," said VVS Laxman on Star Sports.

On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik said that the CSK pacer can make his way in the side only if Bhuvi or Shami are dropped. "I would like to see Shardul Thakur play. The choice is instead of Bhuvi or Shami. Either of them is okay, both of them are great bowlers but I would love to see Shardul Thakur in the side," DK said on Cricbuzz.

"He's at the peak of his confidence, getting those big wickets. He's ready to bowl anywhere, from the first over to the death. He's got the knack of taking wickets," he added.

Even Virat Kohli during his pre-match press conference said that Shardul 'is part of the plans' as the bowlers bring a lot to the plate. Thus, it looks plausible that Shardul Thakur might make his way back into the Indian team against New Zealand. The match starts at 7:30 pm on Sunday.
