T20 World Cup: Namibia has created history by winning their final qualifying match against Ireland and qualified for the Super 12s, i.e. the main stage of the World Cup. It is the first time that Namibia has qualified for the main stage of the World Cup.

Namibia won by 8 wickets against Ireland and secured their place in Group 2. They will be part of the same group that includes India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and Scotland. Namibia will have its match against India on 8 November 2021.

In the final match of the qualifying stage, Ireland won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite a good start with the bat, Namibia managed to pick quick wickets in the middle to restrict the Irish for a humble total of 125 runs. Jan Frylinck was the pick of the bowlers who picked up three wickets and gave away 21 runs.

When Namibia came out to bat, their Powerplay score was 27/1, but a decent partnership by Erasmus and David Wiese for the third wicket took the African country home.

They will play their next match against Scotland on 27 October, followed by matches against Afghanistan, Pakistan, New Zealand, and India.

David Wiese who won the man of the match award dedicated it to the captain saying that Erasmus played a good innings.  "We said in the previous press conference that we are in a pretty tight ship and I think for a small cricketing nation, we are very proud and it means a lot. I think the achievement is one heck of a one and I think we should be proud of ourselves tonight," said Gerhard Erasmus, the captain of Namibia after winning the match.
