Suryakumar Yadav Unavailable For T20I's Against Afghanistan, Gets Diagnosed With Sports Hernia
Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been diagnosed with Sports Hernia and is therefore unavailable for upcoming T20I Series against Afghanistan. Check details below.
India Vs Afghanistan T20I Series: Indian star batsman Suryakumar has been ruled out for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan after he was diagnosed with Sports Hernia, thereby making him unavailable. The Mumbai Indians batsman was already suffering from an ankle injury he endured during the three-match T20I series away in South Africa.
The nature of the issue is termed to mean a long-period of layoff for the star batsman and will be travelling to Germany for further treatment. This further concludes for the fact that the number 1 T20I batsman will not just miss the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, but also the Test series against England and potentially, as per the BCCI sources, former stages of Indian Premier League 2024 for his team Mumbai Indians.
"SKY was recently diagnosed with a sports hernia. He is currently recuperating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. In two to three days, he will fly to Munich, Germany, to get operated for it. It means that he certainly won't be playing for Mumbai this season in the Ranji Trophy and is likely to miss the initial games for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL," said the BCCI source in a report by Times of India.
"With the T20 World Cup in June, Surya will be given all the time to recover properly. He is crucial to India's chances in the T20 World Cup," the BCCI source further added, as reported by Times of India.
The Indian Cricket Team (ICT) will hope for a speedy recovery of the talisman as he has been revelation for the Indian side in the shortest format of the game.
