'1, 4 And 0': Sunil Gavaskar's No-Nonsense Verdict On Virat Kohli's Poor Form In T20 World Cup 2024
Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar, one of the most respected voices in international cricket, feels there's nothing much to worry about as far as Virat Kohli's current form is concerned.
Virat Kohli, renowned as one of the greatest T20 batters of all time, showcased prime form in IPL 2024 where he emerged as the tournament's highest run-scorer. However, his performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been disappointing.
After three matches, Kohli has yet to reach double digits in runs. In his latest match against USA, he was dismissed for a golden duck, following scores of 1 against Ireland and 4 against Pakistan. All three of India's matches have been held at Nassau Stadium in New York, where Kohli has managed just 5 runs in total.

Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar, one of the most respected voices in international cricket, feels there's nothing much to worry about as far as Virat Kohli's current form is concerned. The veteran feels all Kohli needs to do is show some patience.
"The biggest motivation for any players is to win matches, especially when you are playing for your country. He has done so well for India over the years and won so many games. I think he recognises that. We are in the early phases of the tournament. There's Super 8s, semi-finals, and hopefully the final. All he needs to do is show patience and faith in himself, which i think he has plenty," Gavaskar said on Star Sports after the match.
Gavaskar believes that Virat Kohli is going to come good, sooner rather than later.
"When you get three low scores, it doesn't mean he is not batting well. Sometimes you get good deliveries. Any other day, the ball would've gone wide or over the slip for a boundary, today it didn't. So, there's nothing to worry about. We have to show faith in him. Much believe that he is going to come good, sooner rather than later," the batting great added.
Team India defeated USA on Wednesday (June 12) to become the third team to qualify for ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Super 4 stage. Kohli will aim to regain his touch when team India play their final group stage game against Ireland in Florida on Saturday (June 15).
