Star Sri Lanka cricketer indicates his retirement later this year

The veteran cricketer was considering retiring from all formats in November

Sri Lanka’s veteran spinner, Rangana herath has indicated about his retirement. The 40-year-old cricketer has stated that the Test series in England, later this year, could be his last.

In an interview with BBC Sinhala, Herath told that he he has been considering to bid adieu to all formats of cricket after the 3-match Test series.

"Maybe my final series will be the England series later in the year. Following this South Africa series, there is another three months until the England series. For now, this is what I've planned for,” said Herath in the interview.

“There comes a time for every cricketer, when they have to stop playing. I think that time has come for me," he added.

In his vast career of 19 years, Herath has represented Sri Lanka in 90 Tests, 71 ODIs, and 17 T20I where has claimed 418, 74 and 18 wickets respectively. He is the last active international cricketer who played in the 1990s.
