India Tour Of Sri Lanka: BIG UPDATE On Shreyas Iyer's 'India Comeback'

There is now speculation that Shreyas Iyer could make his return to the Indian squad under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, should the former India opener assume the role of head coach of Team India.

Shreyas Iyer in India tour of Sri Lanka: Team India's out-of-favor batter Shreyas Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their third IPL title this year, is reportedly set to make a comeback to the Indian cricket team during India's tour to Sri Lanka.

There is now speculation that Iyer could make his return to the Indian squad under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, should the former India opener assume the role of head coach of Team India.

After ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 concludes, India is scheduled to play a five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting from July 9.

According to an exclusive report by Insidesport, Shreyas Iyer may not be included in India squad for IND vs ZIM T20I series in July. However, there is a strong likelihood that he will be part of the squad for Sri Lanka ODIs later that month.

Despite being overlooked for the BCCI central contract, Shreyas Iyer has made a remarkable comeback with impressive performances in the ODI World Cup 2024 and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Gautam Gambhir frontrunner for the position of Team India head coach

Former India batter Gautam Gambhir is reportedly the frontrunner for the position of head coach of the national team following Rahul Dravid.

On Tuesday, Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) conducted interviews, including one with Gambhir. WV Raman has also been interviewed for the role.

While it's uncertain if Gambhir is the sole candidate under consideration, reports suggest that the announcement of his appointment could be a mere formality expected within the next 48 hours.
