Ruturaj Gaikwad Turns Down Groundsman’s Request For Selfie, Netizens Express Displeasure

Ruturaj Gaikwad was sitting in the dugout when a groundsman approached him to take a selfie when the Indian opener asked the groundsman to maintain some space and then looked away.

New Delhi: The T20I series between India and South Africa came to a tie of 2-2 before the 5th and the last series of the match was called off due to rain on Sunday in Bengaluru. Before being called off South Africa had won the toss and chose to bowl first. In the 3.3 overs that were played India had scored 28 runs and lost 2 wickets. 

But the highlight of the match was something else that the cricket fans did not approve of. After the rain started, Ruturaj Gaikwad was sitting in the dugout when a groundsman approached him to take a selfie with the Indian opener. A reluctant Gaikwad asked the groundsman to maintain some space and then looked away while the groundsman had his mobile phone held for taking a picture. 

The footage of this incident has now gone viral on social media with fans and other social media users expressing their displeasure over Gaikwad’s gesture. 

India had scored 28/2 before the match was cancelled. During this, opener Ishan Kishan 15 runs in 7 balls which inluded 2 sixes while Ruturaj scored 10 runs before getting dismissed.  Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten without opening the account. While Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on one run.
