IND Vs ENG 5th Test: More Records For Rishabh Pant, Joins THIS Elite List Of Wicketkeeper-Batsmen

Rishabh Pant Record: The wicket-keeper batsman scripted history as he became the second Indian wicketkeeper to score a hundred and a fifty in the same Test match.

Rishabh Pant Record: Rishabh Pant’s purple patch continues as he scripted history by becoming the second Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to score a hundred and fifty in the same Test match. The last such incident where an Indian Wicketkeeper scored a hundred and fifty in the same test was also against England when Farokh Engineer scored 121 in the first innings, and 66 in the second, at Brabourne in 1973.

Rishabh Pant not only matched this record but also surpassed the number of runs scored by Engineer as he now stands at third for ‘Most runs by an Indian Wicketkeeper in a Test Match’, with Budhi Kunderan’s 230 (192 & 38 vs England in Chennai 1964) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s 224 (against Australia in Chennai 2013) coming in at first and second respectively.

Starting the 4th day of the India vs England rescheduled 5th Test at 125/3, India lost their 4th wicket as Cheteshwar Pujara got dismissed at 153, with the score of a hard-fought and resilient 66. Soon after that, Shreyas Iyer went for cheap as he scored 19 as India was 190/5.

Pant stood at the other end and kept on ticking the score since 125/3 as he scored a brilliant 50 and his innings came to an end at the score of 57 as he was caught by Joe Root off Jack Leach, and India were 197/6.

Rishabh Pant not only contributed with his bat but also with gloves as he took 3 catches, with the most important being that of Joe Root who was looking well-set for a big score.
