Rishabh Pant Falls For 99; Fans, Teammates Sitting In Anticipation For India Star's 7th Test Ton Left Stunned

Rishabh Pant faced a heartbreak during the IND vs NZ Test in Bengaluru as he was dismissed on 99, missing out on his 7th Test ton.

Rishabh Pant, Team India wicketkeeper batter, faced a heartbreak in the India vs New Zealand Test at Bengaluru as he was dismissed on 99, missing out on his seventh Test century. Pant, alongside Sarfaraz Khan, forged a crucial 177-run stand to help India wipe out the 356-run deficit after New Zealand posted 402 runs in their first innings. Notably, this was the seventh occasion in Pant's 36-Test long career when he lost his wicket in the 90s.

Coming to the dismissal, Pant lost his wicket on the first ball off the 88th over. New Zealand bowler William O'Rourke, using the second new ball, managed to get an inside edge off Pant’s bat that crashed into the stumps, ending his innings one run shy of the milestone.

Rishabh Pant's Wicket On 99 Stuns Chinnaswamy

Notably, fans and Indian team were ready to be on their feet to acknowledge Pant's century, but the wicket stunned the Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, a crestfallen Pant received a standing ovation for is impactful innings that helped India stage a remarkable comeback into the IND vs NZ Test after being all out for 46 in the first innings.
