Despite Australia struggling at 91 for seven while chasing a challenging target of 292, Maxwell played a remarkable unbeaten innings of 201 runs from 128 balls, featuring 21 fours and 10 sixes.

Maxwell also formed a crucial partnership of 202 runs with Pat Cummins, who contributed 12 runs from 68 balls. Shastri drew a comparison between Maxwell's innings and Kapil Dev's iconic knock during the 1983 World Cup against Zimbabwe. In that match, India was struggling at 17 for five, and Kapil Dev played an unbeaten innings of 175 runs from 138 balls, including 16 fours and six sixes, leading India to victory by 31 runs.

After the match, Glenn Maxwell revealed his satisfaction in making the most of the opportunity after failing in similar situations before. He was particularly proud of remaining unbeaten and partnering with Pat Cummins to secure the win, despite Australia being in deep trouble.
