Eight people were killed after multiple explosions hit a cricket match in eastern Nangarhar province of Afganistan on Saturday.

Eight people were killed after multiple explosions hit a cricket match in eastern Nangarhar province of Afganistan on Saturday.

The attack happened as players and hundreds of spectaculars gathered for a nighttime tournament during the holy month of Ramadan.

The blast took place in the home city of World No.1 T20 bowler – Rashid Khan, who is currently in India for the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League, playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Among those that were killed, was Hedayatullah Zahir, the one who had organized the tournament in the Nangarhar province.

The ace spinner took to Twitter to offer the condolence, "You will be missed bro #RIP you did lots of hard work always tried to make Nengrahar shining City. Allah De Tolo shahedano ta janatona naseeb kre Aw Zakhmyano ta de rogh sehat pe dua yma.”
