PCB Not Willing To Bear Expenses Of Hosting Home Test Series vs Sri Lanka In UAE

Pakistan has not hosted a Test series on their home soil since March 2009 when the Sri Lankan team was attacked by militants in Lahore

After successful conclusion of limited over series, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants Sri Lanka to share the financial burden if it wants PCB to host home Test series in UAE. According to PTI, PCB will not bear expenses of hosting Test series in UAE if Sri Lanka decides not to tour Pakistan for the two-Test rubber in December. Pakistan has not hosted a Test series on their home soil since March 2009 when the Sri Lankan team was attacked by militants in Lahore. "PCB Chairman, Ehsan Mani, and CEO, Wasim Khan who are in Dubai for the ICC board meetings have apparently conveyed to Sri Lankan officials that if they (SL) insist on playing the test series in UAE, they should bear the expenses," a reliable source told PTI. "The PCB has decided to take a stance that even after convincing the ICC and Sri Lankan board officials that they can properly manage all security arrangements in Pakistan, if the Sri Lankan board still insists on having the series in UAE it will have to pay or share the expenses of hosting the series," the source said. Sri Lanka Cricket Board President Shammi Silva admitted that it was not easy for them to stay in a hotel for three or four days. "The players had to stay inside the hotel. I got fed up staying for three or four days. We have to talk to the players and support staff and see how this will affect the Test series," Silva was quoted as saying by the Ceylon Daily News. "Pakistan are very happy and grateful to Sri Lanka for sending the team. But we have to assess and see whether it is viable to play Test matches there because they are of five days duration and the players have to be inside the hotel," he added.
