Bowling Coach Paras Mhambrey All But Confirms India's Playing XI For World Cup 2023 Clash Against Bangladesh

India's Playing 11 vs Bangladesh: Paras Mhambrey said that the priority of the team is maintain the momentum gained from previous victories at World Cup Cup 2023.

India's bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has all but confirmed India's Playing XI for their ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 clash against Bangladesh at the Maharahstra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on Thursday (October 19). Mhambrey has suggested that Indian team, aiming for its fourth consecutive victory in the World Cup, will maintain its winning combination in the forthcoming match against Bangladesh. This decision means that players such as Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami will continue to be on the bench.

India's World Cup campaign started with a bang as they defeated five-time World Cup champions Australia, followed by dominant victories over Afghanistan and arch-rivals Pakistan. Mhambrey acknowledged the challenge of sitting out players of the calibre
of Shami, Suryakumar, and Ravichandran Ashwin but emphasized that these choices are made in the best interest of the team.

"Our priority is to maintain the momentum we've gained from our previous victories," stated Mhambrey during a media briefing ahead of India's training session on Wednesday (October 18).

Mhambrey expressed empathy for quality players like Shami and acknowledged the difficulty in excluding them from the playing eleven. He revealed that the team management had candid discussions with the players.

"It is never easy to make such decisions, but we have a clear communication with the players. We pick the team we believe is best suited for the conditions," Mhambrey commented.

He also praised Ashwin for being a team player and adjusting to the team's needs. Mhambrey emphasized that all discussions within the team are focused on the collective goals.

"Suryakumar is a champion and a match-winner. He has consistently showcased his talent and adaptability. It's challenging to find a spot for him in the current lineup. If an opportunity arises, he will get his chance," Mhambrey noted.

Mhambrey also highlighted the significance of Jasprit Bumrah's return after a substantial injury layoff. Bumrah's exceptional performance has significantly bolstered the team's bowling unit.

He emphasized Bumrah's crucial role in providing early breakthroughs and his adaptability in different phases of the game. The bowling coach is delighted with Bumrah's return to form.

Additionally, Mhambrey discussed Kuldeep's development, emphasizing the importance of both technical and mental aspects in his growth as a bowler. He highlighted the increase in Kuldeep's speed, improved accuracy, and his ability to consistently hit desired lengths.

The 51-year-old also underlined India's commitment to not underestimate any opponent. He cited the recent upsets in the tournament, such as Afghanistan defeating England and the Netherlands outclassing South Africa, as a reminder of the challenges each team poses.

"We respect every opponent and understand the uniqueness of each venue. We aim to prepare effectively and perform consistently," Mhambrey stated.
