Joe Root, Harry Brook Historic Partnership Vs Pakistan: Pakistan are thrown on the back foot by England in the first Test match at the Multan Cricket Stadium, as the visitors broke several records on a memorable Day 3.

The whole day belonged to England, and when it comes down to sessions, first session belonged to Joe Root, who surpassed Sir Alastair Cook as the highest run-getter in Tests for England and can lose his record of 35th Test ton if he goes on score a double ton on Day 4.

The second session belonged to Ben Duckett, who smashed a fully-fit bowling attack of Pakistan with a broken thumb, and his innings will undeniably go down in history as one of the best selfless innings, as his knock has helped England gain upper hand in this Test match.

The third session produced a unique piece of history, as the unbeaten 243-run partnership off 310 balls between Harry Brook and Joe Root is now the highest partnership for England on Pakistani soil.

They have overtaken the previous record holders, who are the current openers of the England side - Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, who scored 233 runs back in 2022.

Ben Duckett Provides Update On Injured Thumb

The England opener, inspite of being injured, played a powerful knock of 84 off 75 balls, as a 'One-Thumbed' Ben Duckett proved to be good enough for an ordinary bowling attack of Pakistan, who looked completely out-of-sorts on Day 3.

"Yeah, it's all right. It dissipated last night, but the doctor put it back in straight away. So, yeah, it was a little bit sore yesterday. I didn't go straight out there this morning, and it was absolutely fine. Obviously, I didn't really know what to do while waiting to bat, but on that pitch, you didn't need to leave many balls. It was clearly a really good pitch to bat on, with not much spin. I think we would have definitely taken that at the start of the day,' said Ben Duckett, after the conclusion of play on Day 3.

"We have all day tomorrow to surpass them and then aim to bowl them out on a Day 5 pitch. It's hard to find the right words about him (Root); he has surpassed Sir Alastair, and we are witnessing greatness right before our eyes. However, it doesn't feel that way when batting alongside him. He has been in the form of his life for the past six months," he added.
