On This Day, The Nawab Of Najafgarh Became Sultan Of Multan, Watch Highlights Of THAT 300

On 29 March 2004, Virender Sehwag announced himself as one of the greatest Test batsman. He scored a magnificent triple-century against Pakistan.

29 March is a special date in Virender Sehwag’s career. On this date in 2004, he became the first Indian player to cross the 300-run mark in Test cricket. The way Sehwag treated some of the Pakistani bowlers on that day, was devastating to say the least. Saqlain Mushtaq went for more than 200 runs in his quota of overs in one innings. Sehwag eventually got put for a score of 309 runs. He was picked up by Mohammed Sami.

Virender Sehwag posted on his Twitter account about his Multan innings. He wrote: “29th March- a special date for me. Had the privilege and honour of becoming the first Indian to score a triple hundred in Test cricket. Icing in the cake was to score against Pakistan in Multan.

Coincidentally 4 years later on the same date got out on 319 against South Africa.”

In the tweet he also mentions the 2008 innings against South Africa. Incidentally Sehwag’s other 300 came against South Africa on this very same date.  He scored 319 runs off 305 balls which included 42 4s and five 6s. He joined the elite list of players to have scored two triple centuries. This list includes Don Bradman, Brian Lara and Chris Gayle. Sehwag played with his own brand of cricket which was fearless and was willing to take risks.
