Fine Captain & A Champion Player, MS Dhoni Still Has Lot To Offer To Indian Cricket: Mohammad Kaif
Fine captain & a champion player. One of India's greatest match-winners. I feel he still has a lot to offer to Indian cricket," Kaif said in a tweet.
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels that iconic wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni still has a lot left in his tank to offer to Indian cricket.
Dhoni who is widely regarded as India's most successful skipper in white ball cricket, scripted history on June 23 as he led India to the rain-curtailed 20 over ICC Champions Trophy title in 2003, becoming the skipper in the world to have won all ICC trophies.
Kaif lauded Dhoni for his stellar accomplishments as Indian skipper by recalling the 3 ICC tournaments India has won under his captaincy.
"On this day, 7 years back, MS Dhoni became the first captain to win all three ICC Trophies—Champions Trophy (2013),World Cup(2011) & WT20 (2007).Fine captain & a champion player. One of India's greatest match-winners. I feel he still has a lot to offer to Indian cricket," Kaif said in a tweet.
Dhoni hogged the limelight in 2007 when a long-haired lad from the eastern trenches of Ranchi led a fairly inexperienced Indian side to the inaugural World T20 title at South Africa in 2007 , beating arch-rivals Pakistan in gut-wrenching fashion. Known to have a cool and calm demeanour, Dhoni's six off Sri Lankan seamer Nuwan Kulasekara to clinch the ICC 2011 World Cup will forever be etched in public's memory. Dhoni has been on a rather long self imposed break since the 2019 World Cup where India lost to New Zealand in the semifinals under Virat Kohli's leadership. There has been a lot of talk whether the wicketkeeper batsman will return to the Indian team or not with the T20 World Cup, to be held later this year in Australia, now in doubt due to the coronavirus pandemic. On this day, 7 years back, MS Dhoni became the first captain to win all three ICC Trophies—Champions Trophy (2013),World Cup(2011) & WT20 (2007).Fine captain & a champion player.
