In some good news coming in for the Pakistani team which are currently taking on England in the second of the 3-match Test series at Southampton, veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has joined other members of the Pakistani squad after testing negative for COVID-19.
Hafeez placed himself in self-isolation after he breached the stringent bio-secure safety protocols by meeting a 90-year-old woman at the golf course near the Ageas Bowl. The matter came into the public eye when Hafeez tweeted a picture with the old woman.
The lady who happened to visit the golf course is not a member of the bio-secure environment and it meant that Hafeez had breached the protocol. Despite the protocal breach, the Pakistan Cricket Board did not take any strict action against him. However, the cricketer went into self-isolation for less than 48 hours and has joined the squad after testing negative once.
The Pakistan cricket team members are currently staying at Ageas Bowl in Southampton, which has a golf course adjacent to it. The golf course is open to the public. Hence, the players have been asked to maintain social distancing.
Last month, English tearaway speedster Jofra Archer ECB had to dropped from the Test squad ahead of the second Test as the speedster had broken the protocal rules by making a visit to his home on his way to Manchester from Southampton. Archer remained in self-isolation for five days and took COVID-19 test twice.
On Wednesday, Kent dropped their batsman Jordan Cox as he had breached the protocol by taking selfies with fans. He had scored a double-century in Kent's previous fixture.
