Michael Slater, the former Australia cricketer, reportedly collapsed in court after being denied a bail. The incident happened in Queensland.

Michael Slater, former Australian cricketer turned commentator, reportedly collapsed in a Queensland court on Tuesday after being denied a bail. The development has been confirmed through several media reporst carried by local media. The 54-year-old, it is being learnt, needed help from the personnel present at the court to stand up on his feet after the magistrate ruled against Slater.

After hanging up his boots as a cricketer, Slater has worked as a broadcaster and has even worked in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a commentator. However, he faces over a dozen charges including the ones related to stalking and domestic violence. Common assault is yet another charge that is against the ex-Australian cricket player. As per information carried by credible media reports, Slater allegedly sent unwanted text matches as well as made calls that were deemed to be of an intimiadting nature.

Next Hearing Of Michael Slater's Case In May

The court will see Slater again in the month of May which is when further proceedings of the case will take place. As per a report in ABC News, it was revealed during the course of hearing that Slater has mental health issues that may lead to "impulsive and reckless" actions. The former Aussie opener represented Australia in 74 Test matches as well as 42 ODIs. The New South Wales' cricket product scored 5312 runs in Tests at an average of 42.83 and another 987 runs in the ODI formayt at an average of 24.07. In his 216-matches long first-class career, Slater accumulated over 14912 runs.

Other than his batting heroics, Slater also has an international wicket to his credit. His only wicket at the highest level of the sport came in the game's purest format- Test matches. Overall, he finished with 3 first-class wickets with his right-arm medium pace bowling.
