David Warner, Michael Slater Respond To Reports Of Being Involved In Physical Altercation In Maldives

According to a report in The Sunday Telegraph, cricketer-turned-commentator Michael Slater and star opener David Warner got into a late night physical altercation after a heated argument at Maldives' Taj Coral Resort, where the pair are quarantined.

Australian support staff, commentators and cricketers, who were involved in the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are currently quarantining in Maldives as the Australian government has imposed a ban on incoming flights from India. After completing their quarantine period in Maldives, the Aussie support staff and players will fly back to their respective homes.

Due to surge in COVID-19 cases in the IPL 2021 bio-bubble, BCCI had suspended the cash-rich tournament and arranged chartered flights for the overseas staff members and cricketers to quarantine in Maldives.

According to a report in The Sunday Telegraph, cricketer-turned-commentator Michael Slater and star opener David Warner got into a late night physical altercation after a heated argument at Maldives' Taj Coral Resort, where the pair are quarantined.

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Warner and commentator Michael Slater have now denied reports of their involvement in a physical altercation at the bar in their hotel.

"There is absolutely nothing to the rumour mill Buzz. Davie and I are great mates and absolutely zero chance of (having) a fight," Slater was quoted saying by foxsports.com.au.

Warner also said: "There has been no drama. I don't know where you get these things from. Unless you were here and have got concrete evidence you can't write anything.

"Nothing happened."

Few days back, Michael Slater had made headlines after he criticized Australian PM Scott Morrison for not allowing Australian players to travel back to their country due to the travel ban. Earlier the commentator had said “Blood on your hands PM. How dare you treat us like this.”
