Jonny Bairstow becomes first batsman to complete 1000 runs in 2018 ODI cricket

England's Jonny Bairstow has performed amazingly in the second match of the five match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Bairstow became the first batsman to complete one thousand runs in ODI cricket in 2018. Not only that, with his 13th run in today’s innings while battinng against Sri Lanka, he completed his 2000 runs in ODI cricket.
Apart from him, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has the record of making 1000 runs in the year 2018 but in Test cricket. However, this amazing feat has been attained by Bairstow in the ODIs.
In the 21 ODIs played by Bairstow so far in 2018, he scored 1021 runs at an average of 48.61. Earlier, David Gower, was the first batsman to score 1,000 runs in ODI cricket, in one calendar year, who first completed 1000 ODI runs in 1983.
In the current calendar year, there are only two English batsmen behind them when it comes to the list of ODIs. The list includes Joe Root (871 runs) at number two and Jason Roy (804 runs) at number three.
