Jasprit Bumrah's dominance in Test cricket reached new heights in 2024, making him the highest wicket-taker of the year with 71 scalps. His stellar performances left England's Gus Atkinson, who took 52 wickets, far behind.

Bumrah bowled 357 overs in 2024, maintaining an economy of 2.96. By achieving this feat, he joined the elite company of Indian legends Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, and R Ashwin, becoming the fourth Indian bowler to take over 70 wickets in a calendar year.

Globally, only 17 bowlers in Test cricket history have managed more than 70 wickets in a calendar year. Among them, Bumrah stands out as the bowler with the lowest bowling average.

Jasprit Bumrah's remarkable 2024 season

Jasprit Bumrah began the year with a remarkable debut against South Africa, where he took 8 wickets in the match. He followed this with an outstanding performance in the 5-match Test series against England, taking 19 wickets and helping India secure a thumping 4-1 series win.

His bowling brilliance continued in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where Bumrah not only led India's bowling attack but also reached the milestone of 200 Test wickets.
