MS Dhoni played his last international match during the semi-finals of 2019 ODI World Cup. As per board regulations, he is now eligible to be retained by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as an uncapped player.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) may choose to retain leg-spinner Karan Sharma, who last represented Team India in 2014.

All-rounder Vijay Shankar last represented India in 2019. He has delivered strong performances for Gujarat Titans, and the franchise can retain him as an uncapped player.

Fast bowler Mohit Sharma, who has been outstanding for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the last two seasons, can also be retained. He last played for India in 2015, having participated in 2015 World Cup.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) may choose to retain fast bowler Sandeep Sharma, who has consistently delivered impressive performances each season. He last represented India in 2015.

Piyush Chawla has not retired from international cricket, but he last represented India in 2012. He may be retained by Mumbai Indians (MI) as an uncapped player.
