KXIP Skipper KL Rahul Notches Up 400 Runs In IPL 2020 To Cement His No.1 Spot As Orange Cap Holder

Kings XI Punjab opener KL Rahul who once again top scored for his team with a 49-ball 61 run knock against RCB, became the first batsman to rack up 400 runs in the ongoing season.

Kings Eleven Punjab (KXIP) emerged triumphant over Royal Challengers Bangalore (KXIP) and survived the battle for staying alive in the thirteenth season of the IPL with a 8-wicket win over Kohli-led RCB at Sharjah on Thursday. KXIP's thrilling last over win came on the back of quick-fire half tons by their in-form skipper KL Rahul and Windies swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle, who helped them chase down a competitive 171-run target. Opener KL Rahul who once again top scored for his team with a 49-ball 61 run knock against RCB, became the first batsman to rack up 400 runs in the ongoing season. The KXIP skipper extended his lead at the very top in the run scoring charts with 437 runs in eight innings. Rahul has once again struck a purple patch with the willow, registering a blazing ton and four half centuries in the season so far. Rahul, the Orange Cap holders is followed by his KXIP opening partner and Karnataka state mate Mayank Agarwal, who has 382 runs under his belt. CSK batsman Faf Du Plessis is on the third spot with 307 runs and RCB skipper Virat Kohli occupies the fourth position with 304 runs. "We are a far better side than where we are in the points table. Towards the end it just got too close for comfort, happy that we crossed the line," said Rahul in the post-match presentation ceremony in which he was also declared player of the match for his unbeaten 61 off 49 balls. Punjab's second win of the season did not have much bearings on the overall team rankings in the IPL points table as they continued to remain at the bottom of the table with 4 points.
