IPL 2019: Eoin Morgans & 4 others make late entries to player auction list

IPL 2019: With these five new entrants, the total number of players available for the auctions now stands at 351 – 228 Indian and 123 of them are foreigners

Hours before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 player auction, five new cricketers have been added in the list of players who will be going under the hammer on Tuesday in Jaipur.

England’s limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan along with South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen and Australia’s Riley Meredith are the three overseas players who have been included lately. At the same time, Mayank Dagar and Pranav Gupta are two Indians who have also been added in the player list for the auction on Tuesday.

With these five new entrants, the total number of players available for the auctions now stands at 351 – 228 Indian and 123 of them are foreigners. However, only 70 players, 50 Indians and 20 overseas players can be picked by the eight franchises.

Base prices of the 5 new entrants:

Eoin Morgan: Rs 2 Crore

Van der Dussen: Rs 50 Lakh

Riley Meredith: Rs 40 Lakh

Mayank Dagar: Rs 20 Lakh

Pranav Gupta: Rs 20 Lakh

This is the first time two IPL auctions are taking place within 12 months. The auctions for the 11th edition took place in January this year, while the auction for IPL 2019 will take place on December 18.

For the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League, cricketers from nine states – Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Puducherry – have registered and will hope to showcase their talent in the world’s biggest T20 tournament.
