India shine with Rohit, Rayudu tons, WI need 378 to win

Rohit slammed 4 sixes and 20 fours and eventually surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in terms of most sies in one-day internationals. Sachin hit 195 sixes in his career while Rohit now has 196 under his belt. At the same time, he crossed the 150-run mark for the 7th time in his career

Moving on from the previous two performances, the men-in-blue exhibited an outstanding batting performance in the 4th ODI against West Indies in Mumbai. Tons from vice-captain Rohit Sharma and middle-order maestro Ambati Rayudu propelled the Indian innings like never before. Kohli & Co. posted a mammoth 377-run total in 50 overs at a loss of 5 wickets. West Indies need 388 runs to win.

Earlier today, India won the toss and elected to bat first. For the first time in the ongoing 5-match ODI rubber, the opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan provided a blistering start to the team. They batted for almost 12 overs and added 71-runs for the first wicket which is the highest so far in this series.

Dhawan, who looked in good touch and smashed 2 sixes and 4 fours, yet again missed a half-century as he was removed by Keemo Paul on 38. The West Indies bowlers pushed a bit more to pressurise the hosts and managed to do so as they got rid of skipper Virat Kohli who set the record of slamming 3 consecutive centuries for India in Pune. Kohli ended up scoring 16 of 17 balls while India were reduced to 101/2 in 16.2 overs.

The wicket of Indian skipper may have come handy for the Caribbean guests but the way Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu began the fireworks was simply commendable. They began with stabilizing themselves at the crease and then gradually started charging the bowlers.

The Indian vice-captain took 60 balls to get his fifty and then shifted the gear to reach to his 21st ODI ton. In the next 38 balls, he got to the three figures against his name while Rayudu got his fifty. The duo piled up 211 runs for the 3rd wicket before the HITMAN fell prey to Ashley Nurse in the 44th over and missed his 4th double ton by 38 runs.

Rohit slammed 4 sixes and 20 fours and eventually surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in terms of most sies in one-day internationals. Sachin slammed 195 sixes in his career while Rohit now has 198 under his belt. At the same time, he crossed the 150-run mark for the 7th time in his career.

After Rohit’s departure, Rayudu turned more furious and started punishing the opponent bowlers. He brought up his 3rd ODI century off just 80 balls but unfortunately, got dismissed in the very next delivery.

Rayudu ended up scoring 100 of 81 including 4 sixes and 8 boundaries.

MSDhonii tried to get to rid of poor batting stride but could score only 23 runs off 15 balls.

Kedar Jadhav, who made a comeback after recovering from the groin injury, slammed a four to end the Indian innings and remained unbeaten on 16 after facing 7 balls. Jadeja, who came to bat after Dhoni’s dismissal, scored unbeaten 7 runs off 4 balls.
