India Champions defeated Australia Champions by 86 runs in the second semifinal of the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2024 on July 12 (Friday) at the County Ground in Northampton. India Champions, led by Yuvraj Singh, posted a total of 254 for 4 in 20 overs. In response, Australia Champions could only manage 168 for 7 in their 20 overs. India will now face Pakistan Champions in the final on July 13 in Birmingham.

Pakistan Champions secured their spot in the final by defeating West Indies Champions by 20 runs in the first semifinal.

India's Combined Efforts With Bat & Ball Prove Too Much For Australia

Australia Champions' captain, Brett Lee, won the toss and chose to field. India’s formidable total of 254 was built on half-centuries from Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan and Irfan Pathan. Peter Siddle was the standout bowler for Australia Champions, taking four wickets, while Nathan Coulter-Nile and Xavier Doherty took one wicket each. Yusuf Pathan remained unbeaten with 52 runs off 23 balls, hitting four fours and four sixes.

Australia had a poor start, losing Shaun Marsh on the second ball of the second over after scoring just two runs and Ben Dunk was dismissed on the fifth ball of the fourth over after scoring 10 runs. Aaron Finch tried to stabilise the Australian innings but failed as he too lost his wicket in the sixth over.

Daniel Christian and Callum Ferguson tried to revive the innings but they lost their wickets as well after scoring 23 and 18 ryan respectively. Tim Paine and Nathan Coulter-Nile were the soul batters who crossed the 30-run mark for Australia Champions. Tim Paine 40 off 32 balls and Coulter-Nile played a quickfire innings of 30 runs off 13 balls. However, both their innings were not sufficient as Australia fell short by 86 runs.

For India Champions, Dhawal Kulkarni and Pawan Negi took two wickets each, while Rahul Shukla, Harbhajan Singh, and Irfan Pathan claimed one wicket each.
