IND vs AUS, Adelaide Test, Day 2: Prithvi Shaw Fails Again; India Lead By 62 Runs At Stumps

India vs Australia: At stumps, India managed to take a gritty 62-run lead against Australia on the second day of the first Test at the Adelaide Oval.

India took a handy lead by getting the hosts bowled out in a day but faced the lethal Australian bowling attack under the lights. On a day that has seen 14-plus wickets tumble, Agarwal and Shaw failed to hold their fort to see India through to Stumps without losing any wicket. Pat Cummins disturbed the woodwork to knock over out-of-form Prithvi Shaw's stumps for 4 and give Australia the early breakthrough they needed. Bumrah was promoted all the way up to No. three batting position as Night-watchman and he did his job well by not giving away his wicket. At stumps, India managed to take a gritty 62-run lead against Australia after bowling them out on 191, on the second day of the first Test at the Adelaide Oval.
India were all over Australia at Adelaide and it was veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who turned the tables to put his team on top. Ashwin picked three big wickets of Steve Smith, Travis Head and Cameron Green for just 53 runs in the second session. Post these three crucial blows, India continued to pile on the pressure as Umesh Yadav picked two wickets in the same over to put his team in the driver's seat in the final session of the day. With a run-out against Nathan Lyon, Ashwin picked his fourth wicket to register his best bowling figures in Australia (4/41).
At innings break on Day 2, Australia were bowled out for 191 in 72.1 overs, giving India a lead of 53 runs.
Earlier, after Indian lower order folded quickly for 244 in the first session, speedster Jasprit Bumrah set the tone for Indian bowlers by getting two wickets towards the end of that session to bring India back into the game.
India's first innings was reduced to 244 runs on the second day. At Tea on Day 2, Australia had scored 92 runs after losing 5 wickets and were 152 runs behind India.
