IND vs WI, 1st Test: Miguel Cummins Registers Unwanted Record With 45-ball Duck

Miguel Cummins, who could not open his account with the willow, frustrated the Indian bowlers by entering the record books for holding the record for the 2nd longest duck in Test cricket, when it comes to the number of minutes spent at the crease.

West Indies tail-ender Miguel Cummins got his name on the record books after exhibiting defiant resistance against the Indian bowling attack on the Day 3 of the First Test against India at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. Miguel Cummins, who could not open his account with the willow, frustrated the Indian bowlers by entering the record books for holding the record for the 2nd longest duck in Test cricket, when it comes to the number of minutes spent at the crease. Cummins played out 95 minutes in the morning session while Geoff Allot of New Zealand holds the record as he had not scored a run for 101 minutes against South Africa in 1999. Miguel Cummins also created a new West Indies record for the most number of balls faced in a Test innings without getting off the mark (45). He eclipsed K Arthurthon's record, who had faced 40 balls without getting a run against his name against England at Lord's in 2002. Cummins notched up a defiant 9th wicket partnership with skipper Jason Holder as the two overnight batsmen added 41 runs for the 9th wicket for West Indies. Cummins held fort even as West Indies lost Holder for 39. Cummins was the last West Indies batsman to be scalped in their first innings. Ravindra Jadeja castled the left-hander in the 75th over to end the hosts' innings at 222. At Stumps on Day 3, India had a firm grip on the match with a handy 260-run lead as skipper Kohli and his deputy Rahane looked well settled on the crease after notching up half centuries.
