IND vs SA, 1st Test: Rohit Sharma Bags An UNWANTED RECORD To His Name

Rohit Sharma bagged an unwanted record to his name as he became the first batsman to get stumped twice in a single Test match

India star opener Rohit Sharma made a remarkable comeback into the Indian Test squad by etching his name in the history books. With 7 sixes and 10 boundaries, 'Hitman' became the first batsman to hit two consecutive centuries on Test debut as opener during Vizag Test. Not only that, the 32-year-old showed his natural attacking instincts to smash 13 sixes to shatter former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram's record of maximum number of sixes in a Test match. Following up his century in the first innings, Rohit Sharma scored another ton in the second innings and stitched a crucial 169-run stand with Cheteshwar Pujara for the second wicket to ensure a big win for team India by putting them in a commanding position on the final Day. The UNWANTED Record:  Rohit broke a plethora of records in his first Test for India as an opening batsman. However, he bagged an unwanted record to his name as he became the first batsman to get stumped twice in a single Test match. Rohit Sharma was declared ‘man of the match’ for his remarkable batting as team India won the first Test against South Africa in Visakhapatnam by 203 runs. "Just wanted to go out there and do what I do best. Great opportunity for me at the top. Thankful for the chance, considering I've never done that before. Focus was on winning the Test match and I think we pretty much did everything right today," he said in the post match presentation ceremony. "Couple of years ago it was communicated to me that I might open someday. Even in nets whenever I was not playing Tests I used to practice with the new red ball. "No matter what ball you play, whether it's red ball or white ball. When you are starting the innings you've got to be careful. Focus on basics -- leaving ball outside off, playing close to the body," he said.
