Ind vs Sa 1st T20I: Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out, Complained of back pain

The BCCI Medical Team has examined him and he will not play the first T20 against South Africa at  Greenfield International Cricket Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.

Ahead of the first T20 against South Africa, the Indian team suffered a huge blow as Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain and has been ruled out of the match at Thiruvananthapuram. Bumrah has not played in the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury and made his comeback in the series against Australia.

The BCCI took to Twitter to announce that the ace pacer will not be taking part in the first match.  “Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain during India’s practice session on Tuesday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first #INDvSA T20I," BCCI tweeted.

The India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl against South Africa in the first match. The 35-year-old said that Bumrah sustained a niggle in the practice session.

This is a major cause of concern for the Indian team management as India is gearing up for the T20 World Cup. If Bumrah does not get fit, it will be a huge setback for Rohit Sharma and his team as they have been struggling in their death-over bowling in recent matches.

“We are gonna bowl first. It was a good wicket when we played here last time. Bit of green covering but it’s gonna be a good batting track. Very critical to continue to do what you’re doing and keep that momentum in this format. The very healthy atmosphere in the group and we also want to make sure to tick all the boxes and so far we have been doing good and we just want to continue to do that. Hardik and Bhuvi are rested from the last series. Pant and Arshdeep come in for them. Bumrah had a niggle in the morning so he misses out and Chahal misses out as well. Deepak Chahar and Ashwin are back," Rohit said at the toss.
