India and Pakistan have engaged in some thrilling matches in the past that have drawn attention from all across the world during the Asia Cup.

IND Vs PAK, Asia Cup 2022: On Sunday, August 28, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India and Pakistan will face each other in their first match of the 2022 Asia Cup, reigniting the long-standing rivalry. The two sides might encounter each other multiple times in the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup tournament because of the placement in the same group and the format of the tournament. 

India and Pakistan have engaged in some thrilling matches that have drawn attention from all across the world during the Asia Cup. Here are some of the most memorable India-Pakistan showdowns that happened over the last few editions of Asia cup’s History.

1. INDIA VS PAKISTAN, ASIA CUP 2010 

This match is close to the hearts of Indians as it saw jaw-dropping, eye-popping moments which made both Indian and Pakistani fans bite their nails. In the second half of the match, India was chasing and they needed 268 runs to win.

Gautam Gambhir hit 83 runs off 97 balls, and a good partnership between Gautam Gambhir and Indian Captain, MS Dhoni, stunned the hearts of the Indians.

But Harbhajan Singh stole the thunder of every other person in this match. He also had an iconic heated exchange of words with a Pakistani fast pace bowler, Shoaib Akhtar.

In the climax of this match, when only three runs were needed off two balls, a sixer came from Harbhajan’s bat and won the hearts of the Indians.

2. INDIA VS PAKISTAN, ASIA CUP 2014 

The match is iconic because Pakistani bowlers created immense pressure on the top order of Indian batting, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli were seen going back to the pavilion early in the match.

On the other hand, the middle order of Indian batting was also seen struggling against Pakistani bowlers, but Ravindra Jadeja and Ambati Raydu still managed to hit the fifties off their bats, making a decent defending total of 245 runs.

The Pakistanis in their chase got off to a solid start with the openers playing well for their team. Mohammad Hafeez was seen hitting Indian bowlers, taking his batting total to 75 runs off 117 balls.

This match took a turning point when Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi shot a winning sixer off his bat. When only three runs were needed off three balls, a sixer came from Shahid’s bat, breaking the hearts of the Indians.

3. INDIA VS PAKISTAN, ASIA CUP 2012 

This match is known for its spectacular batting order from both India and Pakistan. The match took place at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The match opened with a spectacular opening from the Pakistani batting order, with Mohammed Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed making their respective totals of 105 and 112 runs. Pakistan made a total of 329 runs.

Indian fans were shocked when they saw Gautam Gambhir going back to the pavilion at zero runs, but the mighty Sachin Tendulkar stood on the fans’ expectations and a fifty came from his bat, but he got out. That's when Virat Kohli did something unimaginable that nobody thought he could ever do and shocked the fans by making his batting total of 183 runs off 148 balls, which made Pakistanis tense.

After a while, Umar Gul took two wickets of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and the match ended with an iconic four by MS Dhoni and India won by 6 wickets.
