However, one Indian great who mastered these challenging conditions was Sourav Ganguly. Remarkably, the former captain was dismissed in single digits only once across all his Test innings in England.

Sourav Ganguly played 9 Test matches in England, scoring 915 runs in 15 innings at a superb average of 65.36. His Test debut in 1996 was nothing short of iconic — scoring 131 at Lord’s and 136 at Trent Bridge. In the 2002 series, he produced impressive knocks of 99 and 128, and played a key role again during the 2007 tour.

The only time Ganguly was dismissed in single digits in England was during the 2002 Lord’s Test, where he scored just 5 runs. Otherwise, he consistently crossed double digits, showing his class against the moving ball.

On day 2 of the ongoing IND vs ENG 1st Test in Leeds, India posted a commanding 471 in their first innings, led by centuries from Jaiswal, Gill, and Pant.

In reply, England reached 98/1 in 20.4 overs by stumps on Day 2. Zak Crawley fell early to Jasprit Bumrah, but Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope steadied the innings. India remain firmly in control as the Test progresses at Headingley.
