Ravichandran Ashwin Top Scores In India's First Innings Effort
Notably, this was Ashwin's sixth Test ton and his second at home. With India reeling at 144/6, it was majorly due to Ashwin's counter-attacking approach that the hosts were able to get to a strong position. Along with Jadeja, Ashwin registered a 199-run stand for the seventh wicket. However, Jadeja could not get to the three-figure mark, getting out for 86 with Ashwin also following him to the pavilion shortly after.

Both Ashwin and Jadeja were removed by Taskin Ahmed who had a three-wicket burst on Day 2 before Hasan Mahmud returned to pick the final Indian wicket to complete his fifer and finish with impressive figures of 5/83.
After shining with the bat, Ashwin will be required to pitch in the ball with the pitch likely to assist spinners as the Test match progresses.
