IND vs BAN, 1st Test, Day 1 Lunch: Indian Pacers Decimate Bangla Top-Order; BAN: 63/3
At the lunch break, wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim was batting on 14 and was accompanied with skipper Mominul Haque (22*)
The Indian seamers continued their subjugation, decimating the Bangladesh top-order on the first day of the Indore Test. After losing their top three batsmen pretty early, the visitors managed to amass 63 runs in 26 overs in the morning session. Mushfiqur Rahim was batting on 14 and was accompanied with skipper Mominul Haque (22*).
Bangladesh decision of batting first didn't go well as Kohli’s decorated pace battery brutally attacked the opponents; especially, the duo of Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav who troubled the opening pair of Imrul Kayes and Shadman Islam. The Bangla Tigers couldn’t score anything in the first three overs, finally gathering the first run in the 4th.
The openers managed to score some runs in the next few balls but failed to continue the momentum as Umesh removed Kayes (6) in the 5th over and reduced Bangladesh for 12/1.
It was now important for Shadman to consolidate with skipper Haque. But Ishant struck right in the next over and bowled the perfect line outside off to get Shadman to edge one straight to Wriddhiman Saha.
But that wasn't all as Shami then came in to send back Mohammad Mithun - trapped right in front for 13. The scoreboard read a dismal 31/3. That is when Haque and Mushfiqur came together and ensured that they don't lose any more wickets.
Earlier, the Indian skipper lost the toss but he knew the nature of the Indore wicket which remains a ‘bit spicy’ on the first day. Deploying all the three seamers was a good decision as all of them returned with a wicket apiece in the opening session.
Ashwin bowled just four overs as the pacers kept piling the pressure on the Bangladesh batsmen.
